Sophomore soccer player Jessacca Gironda (Akron, Ohio) has been named the Huntington Bank Kent State Student-Athlete of the Week.

Gironda tallied the game's lone strike in the 50^th minute with smart positioning in the attack to help the Golden Flashes remain unbeaten on the year with a 1-0 victory at Morehead State last Friday (Aug. 26). She currently leads the squad with three goals, one assist, seven points and nine shots on goal. Kent State, which posted its second straight 1-0 victory, is now 3-0-0 on the season, the team's best start since a four-win start to the 1999 campaign.

Kent State will be back in action Friday (Sept. 2) with the Cal Invitational. The Golden Flashes will take on the host Golden Bears at 7 p.m. PT.
