Luke Wollet, Football

Sophomore football player Luke Wollet (Poland, Ohio) has been named the Kent State Student-Athlete of the Week.

Wollet recorded a pair of interceptions while matching his season high with eight tackles as the Golden Flashes earned their first win of the season Saturday (Sept. 24), a 33-25 triumph over South Alabama at Dix Stadium. The safety's second quarter pick and ensuing 22-yard return helped set up Kent State's second touchdown of the day. He then helped preserve the victory with another interception with just under three minutes remaining. Wollet was named Mid-American Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts.

Kent State heads south down I-77 to face in-state rival Ohio Saturday (Oct. 1) in the Mid-American Conference opener for both schools. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. The game can be heard on WNIR 100.1 FM, as Ty Linder, Rob Polinsky and Dan Scotchmer call the action.
