Spencer Keith, Football

Junior quarterback Spencer Keith (Little Rock, Ark.) of the football team  has been named the Kent State Student-Athlete of the Week.

Keith led Kent State to its biggest offensive output (422 total yards) of the season in a 24-21 win over Mid-American Conference foe Central Michigan last Friday (Nov. 4) at Dix Stadium to help keep the team's hopes of a MAC East Division title alive. Keith completed 17-of-31 passes for season-high 281 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He added 13 yards rushing and did not take a sack. Kent State's previous season-high on offense was 319 total yards. Keith recently became the fourth quarterback in Kent State history with 5,000 yards passing.

Kent State (3-6, 2-3 MAC) goes for its third straight win next Saturday (Nov. 12) when it travels to the Rubber City for its annual Wagon Wheel rivalry matchup at Akron. Kent State will atempt to maintain possession of the rivalry trophy for the second straight year after a 28-17 victory in 2010. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m., and the contest will be televised on SportsTime Ohio.
