Senior soccer player Vanessa Salerno (Etobicoke, Ontario) has been named the Kent State Student-Athlete of the Week.

Salerno was involved in all three Kent State goals Sunday (Oct. 9), including scoring the game-winner on a header in the 88th minute to propel the Golden Flashes (9-5-0, 3-3-0 MAC) to a 3-2 Mid-American Conference triumph over Northern Illinois at Zoeller Field. She assisted on both of Kent State's other two goals as the Flashes rallied from a 2-1 deficit with just five minutes remaining in the game. Salerno has tallied three goals, four assists and 10 points in 14 games in 2011.

Kent State returns to action Friday, Oct. 14 when the Golden Flashes travel to league-leading Toledo.
