Michelle Rura joined the Kent State sports medicine staff as an
assistant athletic trainer in the summer of 2011. Michelle's
primary sport coverage is gymnastics and oversees the graduate
assistant in charge of wrestling.
Prior to working with Kent State, Rura was an athletic trainer with Select Medical Corporation in Orlando, Fla., where she worked with the entertainment cast members at Disney World. Her responsibilities included immediate care, recognition, greenroom and show coverage, individual strength and condition program design and implementation, and providing interventions.
A native of Warren, Ohio, Rura earned her Bachelor's of Science degree at Wright State University in 2007, and added a Master's of Science degree in 2010 from Florida Gulf Coast University. She was a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the Eagles, primarily covering women's swimming and diving, and softball.
A member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association, Michelle also holds membership with the Great Lakes Athletic Trainer's Association and the Ohio Athletic Trainer's Association. She is also CPR/First Aid/AED certified.
