CLEVELAND, Ohio- Kent State soccer's Jenna Hellstrom has been named Co-Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week along with Bowling Green's Erica Hubert and Western Michigan Western's Alyssa Burke as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.Â
Hellstrom garners player of the week honors for the fourth time this season following a three goal performance this past week.Â
In Thursday's match with Miami, Hellstrom scored two of Kent State's three goals as the Golden Flashes clinched at least a share of the MAC East Division Title with a 3-0 win over the Redhawks. Hellstrom now has seven career multiple-goal matches, breaking Lauren Caminati's (2003) Kent State record of six.
In a tightly contested match on Sunday with Ball State, Hellstrom netted a goal in 53rd minute giving Kent State the early second half lead. Hellstrom nearly added a second goal in the first overtime period but a goalie interference call negated an excellently taken free kick by Hellstrom.
Hellstrom now has a total of 13 goals and eight assists this season as Kent State heads into their last regular season match of the season on Thursday as they head to Athens to take on the Ohio Bobcats at 3 p.m.Â
The Golden Flashes have already clinched at least a top-two seed in the MAC Tournament and will host a quarterfinal match on Sunday at 1 p.m. from Dix Stadium.Â
