CLEVELAND - Kent State University men's basketball senior Jimmy Hall earned the year's first Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week award.Â
Hall earned the honor for a landmark night against Cleveland State Saturday, guiding the team to a 79-74 overtime win. Hall was the team's leader with 19 points, 18 rebounds and four assists. His 18 rebounds is a new career-high. Â
While Cleveland State went hot from 3-point range in the 2nd half, Hall scored 15 points on 6-for-10 shooting to keep Cleveland State at bay. His four assists were in big moments, as two came on 3-pointers. His final assist came on a bucket that gave Kent State a lead they would not give up in overtime.
"He was as good as he's ever played in my opinion," stated head coach Rob Senderoff after the game. "19 points, 18 rebounds, four assists, just one turnover. I'm really happy for him, because he was so incredibly unselfish throughout the course of the game. Even in overtime, one of Deon's (Edwin) buckets was on an assist by him when he was doubled…last year he shoots that regardless. This year he makes the winning play, I couldn't be prouder."
Hall and the Golden Flashes will make their home debut Wednesday against Mississippi Valley State at 7 p.m.
