KENT, Ohio – The Kent State University men's basketball team will make its home debut inside the M.A.C. Center Wednesday to take on Mississippi Valley State at 7 p.m.
Students are encouraged to come out and represent their school in the first men's game of the season on campus. The first 500 in attendance will receive a free T-Shirt.
The Golden Flashes enter Wednesday's game following a 79-74 overtime win over Cleveland State in the 2016 Northeast Ohio Coaches vs. Cancer Doubleheader. The victory extended head coach Rob Senderoff's undefeated streak of season-opening victories to six games. The win marked the first overtime game in a nonconference matchup for the Golden Flashes since defeating Arkansas-Little Rock on the road on Dec. 14, 2014, 60-55.
Wednesday's game opens up a marathon schedule of five games in eight days. After Wednesday, the Flashes have one off day to prepare for Friday's matchup with Hiram College. The Flashes will travel to Fort Myers, Florida and practice over the weekend for the 2016 Gulf Coast Showcase. That tournament will feature the Flashes in one game on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. South Dakota is the only opponent currently scheduled for Kent State. On Tuesday, the Flashes will take on either Houston or George Mason. On Wednesday, they could be pitted against Vermont, Wofford, Hofstra or Bradley.
