NSCAAÂ Scholar All-America Teams
Lawson is the first student-athlete in program history to garner Scholar All-America honors from the NSCAA and joins Jaime Eiben as the team's second Academic All-America selection this season. Eiben was named an Academic All-American by CoSIDA in late November.
A senior midfielder from Stow, Ohio, Lawson has been a leader on the field and in the classroom for Kent State soccer over the last four years. A marketing major with minors in advertising and event planning, Lawson has held a 3.96 cumulative grade-point-average, while appearing in every match for Kent State soccer over the last four years.Â
Lawson's 3.96 GPAÂ was the highest of the 36 student-athletes named to the Scholar All-American teams and she was the only selection from the Mid-American Conference.Â
This season Lawson scored one goal and tallied one assist while aiding Kent State's defense to nine shutouts. In the MAC Championship game, Lawson was credited with the assist on Kristen Brots' game-winning goal as Kent State notched its first ever MAC Tournament Championship with a 1-0 victory over Northern Illinois.
Lawson has garnered several other accolades this season including: NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region Second Team, All-MAC Second Team, MAC All-Tournament Team and Academic All-MAC. Â
