Kent State's Eric Lauer was named a National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball for his efforts this past weekend at Liberty, as well as the Mid-American Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week. The junior was one of eight players to be honored by Collegiate Baseball in its weekly release.
Lauer posted his best start of the season on Friday, shutting out a good Flames team through 8.1 innings for the win. He allowed just three hits, with the second and third not coming until the 9th inning. The lefty only walked one batter while striking out a career-high 13 hitters. His ERA dropped to an impressive 1.36 on the season in the effort that helped the Flashes take the four game series.
Kent State will return to action on Tuesday when they play Evansville in a neutral site game in Kokomo, Indiana. MAC play will begin this weekend at Central Michigan.
