
Cross Country to Run in Spartan Invitational Friday

Kent State's cross country programs head to East Lansing on Friday, Sept. 16 to run in the Auto-Owners Spartan Invitational at Forest Akers East Golf Course.
The men will run an 8,000-meter race beginning at 11:50 a.m., followed by the women's 6,000-meter race at 12:30 p.m.
The Golden Flashes last competed in the Tommy Evans Invitational where both the men's and women's program went 2-2 in a dual meet format with Akron, Malone, Pittsburgh and Youngstown State.
The men's team defeated Malone (25-30) and Youngstown State (24-35) but came up short against Akron (21-34) and Pitt (16-43).
The women's team topped Akron (19-38) and Youngstown State (20-43) but fell to Malone (23-33) and Pitt (15-50).
Five members of the men's team came away in the top-25 including: Kyle Brooks (seventh, 20:33.35), Nick Schank (15th, 20:56.69), Sam Goodman (16th, 20:59.12), Josh Gogan (21st, 21:10.12) and Clark Bookman (22nd, 21:12.94).
Three member of the women's team finished in the top-25 including: Olivia Davis (13th, 19:04.20), Morgan Bing (16th, 19:09.60) and Caroline Sauers (22nd, 19:21.50).
Following the Spartan Invitational, the Golden Flashes will have a two week lay-off as they prepare for the Mason Invitational slated for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1 in Leesburg, Va.
