Men's Golf Announces 2016-17 Scholarship Recipients

KENT, Ohio – Kent State University Director of Golf and Head Men's Golf Coach Herb Page has announced the scholarship recipients for the 2016-17 men's golf team.
The men's golf scholarship endowment has reached $1.47 million and funds the scholarships for Kent State's nationally ranked golf program.
"We now have 1.47 million in endowments, and each year, 60 or 70 thousand dollars of interest goes right to the bottom line of Kent State golf," stated Page. "I'm very proud of that, and I'm a believer that you have to pay back for the next generation. These young men are outstanding on the golf course and in the classroom, and it helps them understand that people believe in them and our program."
This season, the scholarship endowment is going towards an experienced team poised for a big spring season. The men's golf team competed in five events this past fall, finishing in the top-4 in every tournament, including a win locally at the Cleveland State Invitational. The group has already broken the program record for a team score and individual score in a 54-hole tournament. The Golden Flashes will enter the spring season ranked 26th in the nation.
"When you have a culture of excellence, athletically and academically, our donors want to be a part of the tradition," said Page. "We have a great program at Kent State University with a rich history of success. I think our golf program is special. Our student-athletes are special. So I have no problem asking on behalf of our university and our golf program, because I believe in this program."
