Thomas Tabbed as MAC Field Athlete of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Danniel Thomas (Westmoreland, Jamaica) has been named the Mid-American Conference's Women's Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
Thomas, a 2016 Olympian, garners athlete of the week honors after winning the shot put at the EMU Triangular this past weekend. In what was her first competition of the 2016-17 season, Thomas recorded a mark of 17.5m (57' 5"), surpassing the automatic qualifying standard for the Indoor MAC Championship by over eight feet.
Thomas's mark is tied for the third-best mark in the nation so far this season and ranks first in the MAC by nearly four feet.
The Golden Flashes return to action this weekend as they compete in the Akron Invitational Feb. 3-4.
