
No. 10 Women's Golf Improves In Second Round of UCF Challenge

ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 10 Kent State University women's golf team improved by six strokes Monday and moved up five spots in the second round of the UCF Challenge at the par 72 Eagle Creek Golf Club.
The Flashes shot a four-under par 284 Monday, moving up to a tie for seventh place at two-under par 574 overall. The Flashes are six strokes back of the top-3. The current leaders are Mississippi State at 560.
Leading the Flashes is Wad Phaewchimplee, who is currently in a tie for 21st place at 2-under par. She matched her score from the first round at 71. Phaewchimplee earned two birdies early, and after her only bogey, parred eight straight holes to end the day.
Behind Phaewchimplee, sophomore Michaela Finn sits in a tie for 28th at 1-under par. She had the best day of any Flash, shooting a 70 Monday. Freshmen Pimnipa Panthong and Karoline Stormo are sitting in ties for 33rd and 40th, respectively. Panthong has shot an even par 144 with a 71 Monday, while Stormo is one stroke back after shooting a 72 in round two.
Sophomore Kelly Nielsen improved her score by a stroke in round two at 74. That puts her at five-over par 149, good for a tie at 67th. Competing as an individual, Marissa Kirkwood shot an even par 72 Monday. Overall, she is in a tie for 57th at 148.
