The Mid-American Conference announced Tuesday that Kent State's Jordan Korinek was named the East Division Player of the Week for her recent performances, as voted on by all 12 conference head coaches.
Korinek became the 21st player in Kent State history to reach the 1,000-career point milestone this week as she averaged 22.0 points in two games. The junior opened the week with a double-double against Miami, scoring 21 and grabbing 12 rebounds in the win. She then hit her 1,000-career point just before halftime at Buffalo, where she went on to total 23 in the game. Korinek now averages 15.2 points on the season.
This marks the second Player of the Week honor for Korinek this season who has also been named MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week twice this year. The Flashes are back in action Wednesday night at the M.A.C. Center as they take on Eastern Michigan at 7 p.m.
