CLEVELAND - Kent State men's golfer Ian Holt has been named MAC Golfer of the Week, as announced Thursday by the conference office. He shares the honor this week with Kyle Rhodes of Eastern Michigan and Peyton White of Ohio.
Holt finished one stroke off of an individual championship at 9-under par 207 at the Louisiana Classics. Holt was the overall leader for Kent State, who won the tournament by a wide margin. He began the tournament matching his career-best score of 65 and followed up in round two at 71. Holt posted a 71 Tuesday for his third straight round under par.
He was one stroke off LSU's Sam Burns, the individual winner and second-ranked collegiate golfer in the country. The finish was Holt's second 54-hole tournament score under 210 this year. His performance this week boosted his individual ranking to 30th in the nation, and his team's national ranking from 22nd to 12th.
Holt and the Golden Flashes will return at the General Hackler Championship in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina March 11-12.
