
No. 12 Women's Golf in Fourth at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 12 Kent State women's golf team sits in fourth place through two rounds of the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational.
Heading into the final round Sunday, Kent State is currently at 21-over par 597. The defending tournament champions are eight strokes behind the leaders in No. 20 Texas and a stroke ahead of the hosts, Ohio State. The Golden Flashes shot a 296 to start the tournament and carded a 301 in round two.
The tournament allowed for the Flashes to send seven golfers to Ohio State, with six in the lineup. Leading the way is freshman Pimnipa Panthong in a tie for eighth. Panthong is 3-over par at 147. She shot an even par 72 in round one and a 75 in round two. One stroke back in 10th is fellow nationally ranked golfer Wad Phaewchimplee. The lone senior in the lineup shot a 2-over par 74 in each round.
Freshman Karoline Stormo and sophomore Kasey Nielsen also scored and each finished in the top-30. Stormo is in a tie for 22nd at 7-over par 151, claiming a 73 in the first round and a 78 in the second. Kasey Nielsen carded scores of 77 and 75, ending Saturday in a tie for 27th.
Kelly Nielsen claimed fifth among Flashes and overall is in a tie for 40th. Her 12-over par 156 came after registering a 79 in round one and a 77 in round two. Wrapping up the lineup is top-100 golfer Michaela Finn, who is in a tie for 52nd at 16-over par 160. She started the day with an 82 and improved to 78 in the following round. Competing as an individual, freshman Marissa Kirkwood is in a tie for 64th at 20-over par 164. She shot a 76 in the first round and an 88 in round two.
