KENT, Ohio – The No. 12 Kent State men's golf team has announced the signing of Ohio junior standout Brayden Baldridge to the 2017 signing class.
Baldridge is one of the top recruits in the state of Ohio and is joining Will Kurtz and Josh Gilkison to make up a talented incoming class from Kent State's backyard. Baldridge is a three time state qualifier, All-Ohio selection and Central District Golfer of the Year.
"Brayden is a champion player," said head coach Herb Page. "He is fundamentally sound in his technique and hits it a long way with the driver. With his tournament experience and great success, we look for Braydon to be a great player at Kent State."
Baldridge had a breakout campaign in 2015 to put his name on the map, qualifying for the US Junior Championship and finishing as a runner up in the State Championship. He would go on to win the Junior Publinks State Championship twice, in addition to titles at the Akron J.Edward Goodpark Championship and the 2016 Indiana Elite-North vs South Championship.
In 2016, Baldridge was a top-30 finisher at the Ohio Amateur. He's a Danville HS record holder, including the school's best mark for a career scoring average of 70.3. In four years there, he has never lost a high school conference/nonconference match.
