
No. 12 Men's Golf Leads at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 12 Kent State University men's golf team leads after two rounds at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate at Ohio State's Scarlett Course.
The Golden Flashes are 11-over par at 579 (294-285) through 36 holes. Kent State is in a tight race against No. 10 Illinois, who are one stroke back. The remainder of the field is at least14 strokes back, led by third-place Iowa at 25-over par.
Individually, Chase Johnson is the overall leader at 2-over par 144. Johnson holds a slim lead, with 11 golfers within two strokes of him. That pack includes three teammates. Johnson started the day off by shooting a 73, and followed up with a 1-under par 71 in round two. One stroke back from Johnson in second place is the current MAC Player of the Week Bjarki Petursson. The sophomore shot a 73 in the first round and a 72 in the second, placing him at 3-over par 145.
Ian Holt and John Whalen are both tied for sixth at 4-over par 146. Holt recorded back-to-back 73's, while Whalen posted scores of 75 and 71. Gisli Sveinbergsson is fifth among Flashes but still within striking distance of the individual title. He scored a 77 in round one and improved to 71 in the second, pushing his overall score to 6-over par 148.
