
No. 20 Men's Golf Enters Final Round of Maui Jim in First

CAREFREE, Ariz. – The No. 20 Kent State University men's golf team is headed into the final round of the Maui Jim Intercollegiate in the lead after round two Saturday.
Kent State is currently 1-over par at 577 over the first two rounds. Saturday, the Golden Flashes shot an 8-over par 296. Georgia Tech shot 2-under par in round two, moving into a tie for first with the Flashes. With 18 holes left, the two teams lead LSU, Arizona State and Lipscomb by three strokes.
Gisli Sveinbergsson continued his strong weekend with another round under par. He is currently in second place at 5-under par 139. He shot 1-under at 71 in round two, starting the day with two birdies and an eagle over his first four holes. He currently trails Dawson Armstrong of Lipscomb by a stroke.
The Flashes have three players in the top-25, including junior Bjarki Petursson in a tie for 10th place. Petursson shot 2-over par Saturday at 74, putting his overall score at even par 144. Chris Doody is in a tie for 25th heading into the final round at 4-over par 148. The sophomore shot a 6-over par score of 78 in round two.
One stroke behind Doody is senior Ian Holt, currently sitting in a tie for 28th. He carded a 4-over par score of 76 on Saturday. Chase Johnson rounds out the lineup at 8-over par 152. He improved in round two to 3-over par 75, moving him into a tie for 46th. Competing as an individual, freshman Josh Gilkison is in a tie for 57th at 11-over par 155. He improved by a stroke from round one to round two, carding a 5-over par 77.
