Stypinski Named MAC Gymnast of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – All-American Rachel Stypinski opened her senior season by being named Mid-American Conference Gymnast of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Stypinski scored a 39.375 to win the all-around title in Kent State's dual meet against Centenary on Sunday at the M.A.C. Center. She also won individual titles on (9.900), beam (9.875) and floor (9.900) while tying for third on vault (9.700). Stypinski matched her personal-best on bars and scored 0.150 higher than any other competitor on beam.
After posting the best season-opening score (195.050) since 2004, the Golden Flashes are back in action at the M.A.C. Center to host Northern Illinois on Friday at 7 p.m. for its first MAC competition of the season.
