Panthong Named Co-Champion at Lady Buckeye Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio- After heavy rain caused the final round of play to be canceled, sophomore Pimnipa Panthong (Nakhon Sawan, Thailand) was named co-champion of the Lady Buckeye Invitational with a 3-under 141 score for her third-straight tournament win.
"We were really hoping to get back out there today to finish all 54 holes, but unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate," said head coach Greg Robertson. "Overall we saw some solid play from the team and It was great to see Pim win her third-straight. We'll get a couple of days of work done before heading to Chicago for the MAC Championship on Wednesday."
The sophomore shot the lowest first-round score of the tournament with a 68 and carded a second round of 1-over 73. The sophomore led with 10 birdies after 36 holes and led the tournament in par-5 scoring at 5-under.
The No.16 women's golf team earned a second-place finish after carding a 36-hole team total of 585 (+9) yesterday.
Tying for sixth place was sophomore Karoline Stormo (Tvedestrand, Norway) who came away with rounds of 71 (-1) and 74 (+2). Stormo collected 24 pars and sunk four birdies after 36 holes. Junior Michaela Finn (Ängelholm, Sweden) finished the two rounds at 5-over 149. Finn finished the first round at 1-over and completed the second round with a score of 76.
Freshman and Chloe Salort (Ermont, France) and junior Kelly Nielsen (Kent, Ohio)  tied for 27th at 151 (+7). Salort fired a first-round total of 75 and finished the second round with a 76, while Kelly Nielsen shot a 76 first round and bettered her second round carding a 75. Freshman Kory Nielsen (Kent, Ohio) finished the day tied for 45th carding a 76 opening round, followed by scoring a 78 totaling a 154 (+10).
Sophomore Julia Goodson (Hudson, Ohio) competed individually and finished with a 156 (+12). She fired an opening round of 77 and shot a 79 round two score. Goodson lead the team with 26 total pars.
The Lady Buckeye Invitational finished the regular season for the Flashes. The team moves on to the 2018 MAC Championship April 20-22 as the Flashes compete for their 20th-straight MAC Women's Golf Championship.
