CLEVELAND, Ohio – Kent State sophomore pitcher Madi Huck won the final MAC East Pitcher of the Week Award of the season and her second of the year, the conference office announced Tuesday (May 8).
Huck threw the best start of her career, and was one out away from throwing a no-hitter on Saturday against Akron. In her only start of the week, she did not allow a hit until a seeing-eye single through the left side of the diamond in Kent State's 4-0 win over Akron. Huck struck out seven and walked one in the contest while allowing only three baserunners all game. She held the Zips to a .087 batting average.Â
Kent State finishes the season with nine conference player of the week award. Holly Speers was named MAC East Player of the Week five times, Emily Dobbin and Bailey Brownfield once and Madi Huck MAC East Pitcher of the Week twice.
