Day 13: Ringing the Victory Bell After a Hard Practice
Kent State players took part in one of their toughest practices Thursday morning at Dix Stadium and responded well. Day 13 served as the last physically demanding practice of the spring with Head Coach Darrell Hazell expecting his players to wake up Friday morning with some aches and pains.
The first pick of Wednesday’s draft, junior center Phil Huff (Hilliard, Ohio), had his best practice according to coaches. In the offseason, Huff bulked up to 290 pounds and has continuously worked at his technique.
Also having one of his best practices, was quarterback David Fisher (Oceanside, Calif.), who showed accuracy on a number of downfield passes.
Toward the end of practice, players were asked to run around the grass practice field and back into Dix Stadium. When they arrived back, the Victory Bell was waiting for them on the turf. Hazell had eight different players ring the bell, signifying different wins for the upcoming season.
“I want that sound to echo in their heads this offseason,” Hazell said in a post practice interview.
The Golden Flashes will conduct practice No. 14 Friday at 5 p.m., before playing their Spring Game Saturday at 2:30 p.m. A “Chalk Talk” social for area coaches will be held after Friday’s practice and a free youth clinic will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. Season tickets are on sale now.
