It wasn't the storybook ending senior Jessi Carmichael had hoped for in her fastpitch career when Kent State was knocked out of the Mid-American Conference Tournament at Akron's Firestone Stadium Friday. However, Carmichael will still go down in the Golden Flashes' annals as one of their all-time top players.
Carla Brookbank-Schaal was a featured pitcher and hitter for the Akron Racers from 1999-2000. The Green, Ohio native currently resides with her husband, Bob and her four boys Jack (6 ½), Nick (5), Mike (3 ½) and Luke (20 mos.) while serving as a full-time MOM, part-time nurse practitioner and part-time softball instructor through her company Brookbank Fastpitch.
Carmichael Shining Bright for Golden Flashes

Head coaches always take a 'one game at a time' approach and seldom look back to reflect on any personal accomplishments or milestones while in the middle of a season. Linder's latest achievement, though, admittedly was a personal, emotional, and special one that made her look back on not only her coaching career but also her entire life.
