
Barnes Named MAC Track Athlete of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – For the second time this season, Kent State senior William Barnes has been named Mid-American Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference office, Wednesday.
At the Kent State Tune-Up on Saturday, Feb. 20, Barnes posted the fastest 60 meter hurdles time in NCAA Division I this season at 7.67, taking first place.
Barnes is now the Kent State record holder in the 60 meter hurdles, surpassing Ron Andrews' previous record of 7.72 set in 2002. Barnes also broke the Kent State Field House record of 7.74, held by Renaldo Powell (2014) of Central Michigan.
The Golden Flashes track and field team is gearing up for the MAC Championship slated for Friday, Feb. 26 and Saturday, Feb. 27 at Stile Athletics Field House in Akron, Ohio.
