
Jagers and Thomas Earn NCAA Championship Bids; Seven Flashes Named All-MAC

KENT, Ohio – Kent State track and field's Reggie Jagers III and Danniel Thomas have earned entry into the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships, as announced earlier this week. Jagers and Thomas are also amongst the seven Golden Flashes to be garner All-MAC honors following this past weekend's conference championships.

The 2017 Indoor National Championships will be hosted by Texas A&M University March 10 and 11 in the Aggies' Gilliam Indoor Stadium. The competition can be seen on ESPN3 starting at 6:25 p.m. on March 10 and continuing March 11 beginning at 4:55 p.m.
Jagers will be making in his first appearance at the Indoor National Championships following his career-best weight throw performance of 22.01m (72' 2.5"), which earned him a MAC Championship and ranks 12th in the nation heading into the championship. The Cleveland, Ohio native has competed in three Outdoor National Championships in his career, most recently in 2016 when he earned All-America First Team honors with a seventh-place finish in the discus.
Thomas will be competing in the shot put at the Indoor National Championships for the third time in her career and making her sixth national championship appearance overall. Thomas turned in multiple national championship qualifying performances this season but her career-best mark of 18.32m (60' 1.25") from the Kent State Tune Up has the Westmoreland, Jamaica native ranked second in the country heading into the championship. Thomas captured her third Indoor MAC Championship this past weekend with a meet-record throw of 18.08m (59' 3.75").
Along with their conference championships, Jagers and Thomas also swept the MAC Men's and Women's Field Athlete of the Year awards and were among the seven Golden Flashes to receive All-MAC honors.
Gabrielle Figueroa and Sam Tollerud joined Jagers and Thomas as first team All-MAC recipients, having captured conference championships in their respected events. Figueroa won the women's weight throw with a mark of 19.58m (64' 2.75"), while Tollerud won the women's pole vault at 4.17m (13' 8").
The three Golden Flashes to earn second team All-MAC honors for their runner-up finishes at the conference championship were Christian Champen (pole vault), TJ Lawson (heptathlon) and AJ Stevens (triple jump).
