Panthong Tabbed as MAC Golfer of the Week

CLEVELAND – Kent State University sophomore Pimnipa Panthong earned the first Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week honor this season.

Panthong wrapped up a great showing to begin the year at the Jim West Challenge this week. Her overall score of 6-under par 207 placed her eighth overall, seven strokes off the lead.

Panthong started the tournament off with a score of 67, one stroke out of first place through round one. The sophomore followed up with a score of 1-under par 70 in the next two rounds. Panthong, last season's national leader in birdies, recorded 12 over 54 holes this week.

Panthong and the Golden Flashes have a quick turnaround for their next tournament, competing in the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate Sept. 18-19 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
