Kent State Lacrosse Releases Schedule for Inaugural Season
The Kent State Women's Lacrosse team released the schedule for its inaugural season on Wednesday. The Flashes will play the first game in program history on February 10 as they travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats.
"The inaugural Kent State Lacrosse season is an important one for establishing who we are as a team and who we want to become," said head coach Brianne Tierney. "Fans who have never seen lacrosse will be thrilled by the speed and strength of the game, and we are excited to create some new lacrosse fans in the University and the Kent community." Â
Fans will have their first opportunity to see the Golden Flashes at home against Robert Morris on February 16 at Dix Stadium.
After the home opener, the Flashes hit the road for an Indiana road trip to face Butler on February 22 and Notre Dame on February 24. The Flashes also have a non-conference matchup on the road against Michigan on March 8.
"I am confident we will derive success from the opportunity to play both established programs like the University of Notre Dame and Robert Morris University, as well as programs that were in our shoes one year or a few years ago," added Tierney. Â Â
Kent State will compete in the ASUN Conference. A road trip to Coastal Carolina on March 26 opens conference play. Other conference foes include Howard, Stetson, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State and Liberty. Â
As part of a crossover with the Southern Conference, the Flashes will play three games against SoCon members Detroit Mercy, Delaware State and Central Michigan.
The 2019 ASUN Lacrosse Championship will be held at Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C. with semifinals taking place on May 2 and the championship game being played on May 4.
