Eight Golden Flashes Earn Academic All-MAC Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Kent State men's and women's cross country teams placed eight individuals on the 2019 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Teams, the conference announced Thursday.
A total of 39 student-athletes were named to the men's team, while 84 student-athletes were named to the women's team. Kent State's Samantha Hyme was one of just 12 women to turn in a perfect 4.0 GPA. Hyme earned her second straight Academic All-MAC selection.
In addition to Hyme, four additional women earned Academic All-MAC honors. Senior Jaimie Adams was recognized for the third time, while junior Nicole Fleming was named for the second time. Sophomores Kalli Barrett and Leah Lisle each earned their first honor.
Three members of the men's team were honored. Senior Clark Bookman was recognized for the third consecutive year, while Joshua Allen earned his second Academic All-MAC honor. Sophomore Alex Stamper was named to the team for the first time.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that sport.
