
Nielsen Leads Flashes in Second Round of Northrop Grumman Regional

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif- Junior Kory Nielsen continued to shine at the Northrop Grumman Regional as she led the No. 3 Kent State women's golf team in the second round of the Northrop Grumman Regional on Monday. Nielsen carded a 70 (-1) score.
Nielsen went 16 holes for par or better and carded three birdies in the second round, while completing her final nine holes bogey free. Nielsen sits tied for fifth (-2).
"Kory has continued to lead the way with great ball striking," said head coach Lisa Strom. "Â With a special round tomorrow, we can certainly climb up the leaderboard and leave here knowing we belong in the mix as a top team in the country."
The Flashes carded a 10-over 294 and are tied for eighth at 583 (+15). Duke leads through two rounds at 4-under par 564.
Senior Pimnipa Panthong bounced back after opening round and fired a 71 (E) after carding four birdies. Senior Karoline Stormo finished the day with a 76 (+5), while junior Chloe Salort shot a 77 (+6). Freshman Caley McGinty fired an 80 (+9).
Kent State will be paired with Wake Forest, Arizona State, and Auburn for the final round tomorrow as the Flashes will tee off at 8:30 a.m. PT/ 11:30 a.m. ET. Live Scoring is available at golfstat.com.
