Miknis Named Conference Player of the Week

KENT, OHIO- Kent State redshirt freshman Justin Miknis has been named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week for his efforts in the three-game series against Seton Hall.
Miknis had two hits in each of the three games against the Pirates, helping the Golden Flashes take two of the three games in the series. In Friday's series opener, Miknis hit a bases-clearing, three-run triple to break open a 6-6 game that Kent State went on to win 10-7. On Saturday, Miknis found himself up with the bases loaded again and again he delivered. The redshirt freshman belted a home run over the scoreboard in right field, helping the Flashes to a 12-4 victory.
Over the course of the weekend, Miknis hit .500, going 6-for-12 in the three games, he drove in seven runs and scored five of his own. The Dubois, Pennsylvania native is tied for the MAC lead with 11 runs scored and is fifth in the conference with a team-leading 10 driven in so far this season.
The Golden Flashes are back in action this weekend, opening conference play against the Northern Illinois Huskies. The four-game series gets started on Friday with a 3 p.m. first pitch from Schoonover Stadium.
