
Flashes Tied For Fifth After First Round of Regionals

COLUMBUS, Ohio- The Kent State women's golf team sits tied for fifth at the NCAA Columbus Regional after posting a first round total of 291 (+3) at the Scarlet Course.
The Regional field features 18 teams competing for six spots in the NCAA Championships, which begin next Friday in Scottsdale, Ariz. Kent State is the No. 4 seed in the field in Columbus.
Caley McGinty leads the Flashes after she fired a 70 (-2) score and is tied for second overall. McGinty went 15 holes for par or better and birdied five times.
Chloe Salort finished the opening round with a 72 (E) and sits tied for 15th after she followed a single bogey with a birdie. Mayka Hoogeboom is tied for 23rd after she fired a 73 (+1). She birdied on her fifth hole and finished the round with 13-stright pars.
Kory Nielsen carded a 76 (+4) and sits tied for 53rd, while Emily Price rounded out the Flashes' lineup with a 77 (+5) and is tied for 62nd.
Play continues through Wednesday. Kent State will be paired with Arizona State and Georgia for Tuesday's second round. The Bulldogs, Sun Devils and Flashes will tee off from No. 1 in waves between 9:00-9:40 a.m.
