
Women’s T&F Stays in First at MAC Outdoor Championships

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kent State women continued to prove last year's title was not a fluke, extending their lead at the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships to 23 entering the final day of action.
The Golden Flashes totaled 41 points on Friday, which is more than any other team has scored over the first two days of competition combined.
Kent State continued its dominance in throwing events, as all four shot put competitors recorded personal-bests and totaled 19 points. Gabby Bailey claimed her second outdoor shot put title in a row with a throw of 55'-10.25" on her fifth attempt, strengthening her hold on the No. 2 spot in program history. Grace Tennant placed third with a mark of 53'-11.25", moving ahead of LeVania Henderson for sixth on the Flashes' all-time performance list. Aliesha Shaw (49'-7") and Meghan Daly (47'-10") finished seventh and eighth, respectively.
Leah Pasqualetti captured her fourth overall MAC pole vault title with a height of 12'-9". Angelina Lotarski cleared 11'-9.25" to take fifth.
Karlea Duhon completed her first heptathlon in a Kent State uniform with 4,985 points, which is good for the No. 6 total in school history, for fourth place. Duhon started the day with a mark of 17'-11.75" to tie for third in the long jump and then took first in the javelin with a throw of 133'-3" before closing the competition with a time of 2:43.17 in the 800-meter run.
Sarena Choi matched her best long jump finish at a MAC outdoor meet, soaring 19'-2" on her second attempt to place sixth.
On the track, three Flashes advanced to running finals on Saturday. Benja Duff's time of 13.59 seconds was the fastest qualifying time in the 100-meter hurdles, while Mi'Angel Daniels ran 13.82 to also advance. Ruby Greenwood won her heat of the 400-meter dash in 55.38.
The Flashes will attempt to close out their second consecutive outdoor title on Saturday, as competition will resume with the discus throw at 10 a.m. Running finals are scheduled to begin at 11:23 a.m. with the 4x100 relay and will conclude with the 4x400 relay at 3:20 p.m.
