Shumate Named MAC Player of the Week Award

CLEVELAND – Redshirt senior Katie Shumate has been named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning.
Shumate had another stellar week with averages of 19.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game to lead the Golden Flashes to a pair of wins that secured a top-3 seed in the upcoming MAC Tournament. She led all players with 23 points and nine rebounds in a victory at Eastern Michigan on Wednesday. On Senior Day against Buffalo, Shumate scored a team-high 16 points and matched her career-high in rebounds (13) and assists (5) while adding three steals and two blocked shots.
Kent State will conclude the home schedule on Wednesday, March 6 against Ball State. The contest will be nationally televised on ESPNU at 5 p.m.
