CLEVELAND, Ohio – It was announced on Tuesday by the Mid-American Conference that Kent State midfielder Zayda Crumpton has won the conference's lacrosse Co-Offensive Player of the Week award. The junior earns the honor for her performance in the Flashes' first two games of the season, including a 13-9 win over George Mason on Friday to open the 2025 campaign.
Crumpton played a key role in the Flashes' season-opening win at George Mason, tallying three goals and three assists for a team-high six points. Beyond showing up on the scoresheet, she also played a key role in gaining and maintaining possession for Kent State, recording a team-high eight draw controls in the game.Â
Despite suffering a 13-6 defeat in the second game of the weekend at George Washington on Sunday, Crumpton continued her strong start to the season after being named First-Team All-MAC in 2024. She led the team as the only Golden Flash with multiple goals in the game, with two, and was once again the joint-team leader in draw controls with four.Â
Through two games in 2025, Crumpton leads Kent State in goals with five, points with eight, draw controls with twelve, and caused turnovers with three. Tuesday marks the second time she has won the MAC Offensive Player of the Week award, after earning the award for the first time during the 2024 season.
Kent State will hit the road one more time at Mercyhurst on Sunday, February 16, at 1 p.m. before returning home for the team's home opener on Thursday, February 20, at 4 p.m. in Dix Stadium.
