Kent State University officials have been busy this summer implementing the first phases of the athletic department's new strategic vision: "The Game Plan, 2016-2020."
The Game Plan was unveiled in March of this year, following a lengthy research process that began in October of 2014 with an assessment of the school's athletic department by Collegiate Sports Associates. Suggestions, many driven by CSA's findings, led to an initial plan created in September of 2015 by Kent State President Beverly J. Warren and Director of Athletics Joel Nielsen. They also used input from an oversight committee that included distinguished representatives from KSU, the community, alumni, donors and current and former student-athletes.
The final version, released earlier this year, featured six strategic goals for the Kent State Department of Athletics: 1. Student-Athlete Well-Being; 2. Competitiveness; 3. Resource Development; 4. Resource Management and Operations; 5. Equity, Diversity and Inclusion; 6. Identity and Engagement.
In all, The Game Plan includes 18 goals and objectives, 44 strategies and 99 action steps.
