Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
The Kent State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is a student organization made up of Golden Flash student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. SAAC also offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives and serves as a liaison between the athletes and the administration. Meetings are held once twice per month in the MAC Center.
A minimum of two representatives from each team are required to be present at all SAAC meetings. Team representatives are voted and selected by their respective teams. Teams are instructed to select representatives that best exemplify the qualities of a successful student-athlete.
In addition to serving as student liaison, SAAC members also assist with community service and personal development efforts through the NCAA Life Skills program. SAAC representatives assist in the selection of speakers, volunteer projects, and career building presentations which serve to benefit the entire student-athlete population. SAAC representatives also serve as mentors to the incoming freshmen on their respective teams.
SAAC first became mandatory throughout the NCAA in 1989. Student-athlete welfare has always been the backbone of SAAC at every level of governance: campus, conference and national. All in all, SAAC exists to help athletes succeed in a variety of ways.
