
Kent State Athletics believes in developing future leaders in the world of sports. Our internship program offers passionate, driven students hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of a Division I athletics department. Whether you're interested in game-day operations, creative content, student-athlete support, or behind-the-scenes administration, there's a place for you here.
Available Internship Areas
Prospective interns may apply to one or more of the following areas, depending on their interests and career goals:
Academics
Support the academic progress of student-athletes through study hall monitoring, tutoring coordination, and academic tracking systems.
Broadcasting
Assist in the production of live games, highlight packages, and storytelling content through our in-house streaming network and radio broadcasts.
Business Office
Gain experience in athletic finance, budgeting, purchasing, and day-to-day operations that keep our department running smoothly.
Communications (Photo)
Capture in-game action, headshots, and behind-the-scenes moments for digital and social media use.
Communications (Video)
Shoot, edit, and produce engaging video content including highlights, hype videos, and special features.
Communications (Graphic Design)
Create digital content, posters, and branding elements for events, social campaigns, and more.
Communications (Social Media)
Help manage team accounts, develop engaging posts, and track analytics.
Communications (Public Relations & Sports Information)
Write press releases, manage media relations, update website content, and compile game notes/statistics.
Compliance
Learn about NCAA rules and regulations, monitoring processes, and how to support institutional control.
Facilities & Operations
Get involved in facility management, game-day setup, and event operations.
Golden Flashes Club (Advancement)
Support donor engagement, stewardship, and fundraising events.
Marketing & Promotions
Plan and execute promotions, fan engagement strategies, and community outreach events.
NIL (Name, Image, & Likeness)
Learn how NIL works at the campus level, assist with education, branding, and tracking efforts.
Sponsorships
Assist with activation, fulfillment, and partnership strategy with corporate sponsors.
Student-Athlete Development
Help implement leadership programs, career workshops, and life skills events.
Who Should Apply?
Students who are:
• Passionate about collegiate athletics
• Detail-oriented and eager to learn
• Interested in pursuing a career in sports
• Available to commit to at least one full semester (fall, spring, or summer)
