KENT, Ohio – Kent State University men's basketball head coach Rob Senderoff has announced the signing of Antonio "Booman" Williams to the 2018 recruiting class.
A 6-0 guard, Williams averaged a team-high 4.7 assists and 1.2 steal per game for No. 1 Indian Hills Community College last season. He was second on the squad in scoring, averaging 14.6 points per game on 51% shooting from the floor, while grabbing 4.8 boards per game. Williams was named to the NJCAA Division All-Region First Team his sophomore year, and scored over 800 points in his Indian Hills career.
"I'm really excited to add Booman to our roster. He comes from a great program at Indian Hills and had been really well coached by Hank Plona," said Senderoff. "Booman is very versatile and can play all three perimeter spots and can guard multiple positions and plays bigger than his size. He's one of the great competitors that I saw during the season and I'm excited that he is going to be part of our program. I can't wait to get him here to Kent State."
Williams was the starting point guard for one of the best junior college programs in the country and the Warriors finished the regular season 30-0 with an NJCAA Division I No. 1 national ranking. Indian Hills also produced former Kent State guard Kevin Zabo, who helped lead the 2016-17 squad to the NCAA Tournament.
The Chicago, Ill. native attended Proviso East High School, where he was named Third Team All-State his senior season, averaging 24 points and six rebounds per game. He will have two years of eligibility at Kent State.
