Kent State Track and Field Travels to Gladstein Invitational Friday

Kent State's track and field programs travel to Bloomington, Indiana on Friday, January 23rd and Saturday, January 24th for the Gladstein Invitational hosted by the Indiana University.

Kent State's track and field teams return to action tomorrow after competing at Akron for the Akron v. Kent State Dual on Friday, January 16th.
The Golden Flashes' women's squad defeated Akron in the final event of the night, pole vault, by a final score of 77 to 74. Kent State's Morgan Estes and Sam Tollerud teamed up for seven points to Akron's four points earned on the event. Estes took first in the event and Tollerud took third.
The Flashes saw five women's individuals take first on the night with the 4x400m relay team taking first as well.
Kent State's men's team fell to Akron 77 to 74 on Friday. In his first action of the season, Wayne Gordon took home first in the 60m dash and the 200m dash. His blazing 6.69 time in the 60m dash is the third best time in school history. Gordon won the 200m with a time of 20.95 seconds.
Six men came away with first place finishes totaling seven victories for the Flashes, including Gordon.
MAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK …
Athlete of the Week Release
Wayne Gordon and Matthias Tayala were both named Mid-American Conference Athletes of the Week. Gordon took home the men's track athlete of the week and Tayala won the men's field athlete of the week.
Gordon took the award with his two victories in the 60m dash and 200m dash at the Akron Dual.
Tayala won the field athlete of the week award after he took first in the weight throw, 21.36m (70' 1"), and fourth in the shot put with a mark of 16.01m (52' 6.5").
Up Next …
After the Gladstein Invitational, the Golden Flashes take a week off before returning to action when they spilt up and travel to the Meyo Invitational and the Akron Invitational on February 6th and 7th. Kent State's throwers will travel to the Findlay Open next weekend, January 30th.
