MUNCIE, Ind. – Kent State completed a 9-8 regular season and 5-1 conference record on Sunday to be named Co Mid-American Conference Regular Season Champions after a 6-1 defeat at Ball State (2-16, 0-6). The Golden Flashes have now won 11 MAC championships in 11 seasons and their 4th-straight regular season title.

Scoring opened up 22:32 into the game when Silvia Figa Malgosa tipped a shot in on a corner play. Two minutes later, Ball State was able to dribble a ball in to make it 1-1 at halftime.

The Golden Flashes came out strong in the second half, as Madison Thompson netted the would-be game winner less than two minutes into the second period. Ten minutes later, Shannon Talbot passed a ball into the circle and Alison Harmatz dived for a gritty goal. Thompson connected again just two minutes after Harmatz to make it a 4-1 game.

Jessica Nesbitt netted her first career goal off her own rebound at the 50:34 mark. The team's final goal was also memorable, as Susanne Felder scored the first of her career on a straight shot off a corner play to make it 6-1.

Kent State dominated the game statistically, with 29 shots to Ball State's four and 14 corners to the Cardinals' two. Ines Delpech led the way with eight shots while Harmatz and Figa Malgosa had four each. Andrea Rinehart played the full seventy minutes in net with two saves.

With 5-1 conference records, Kent State and Miami share the MAC regular season title. The Golden Flashes earn the No. 1 seed at next week's MAC Tournament because of the head-to-head defeat of the RedHawks. No. 1 Kent State will take on No. 4 Ohio at 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 6 to begin the tournament. Saturday's champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA postseason.
