T&F Starts off the Season with a Strong Showing on Day One of Golden Flashes Gala

KENT, Ohio - Kent State began the 2015-2016 season with a successful first day at the Golden Flashes Gala in the Kent State Field House on Friday, December 11th.
In the women's long jump for the Golden Flashes, Cayla Carey came away in first with a mark of 5.39m (17' 8.25"). Aspen Gaita won the pentathlon with 3,394 points to start off her Kent State career. Chelsea Laury came in behind Gaita with 3,380 points for a second place finish.
In the women's 5000m run, Morgan Bing finished in second place with a time of 18:39.68.
Morgan Estes also finished in second place on the day, as she took second in the pole vault with a height of 4.01m (13' 1.75").
On the men's side, freshman TJ Lawson sits in second place after day one in the men's heptathlon with 2,952 points.
Kent State returns to the Field House tomorrow, Saturday, December 12th, for the second day of the Golden Flashes Gala starting at 11 am with the men's heptathlon 60m hurdles for the hepthathlon.
