CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Kent State men's basketball team's first home contest of the Mid-American Conference season against Buffalo on Friday, January 8 has been selected to air on CBS Sports Network as part of the MAC Basketball television package. Tip-off for the game has been moved up 30 minutes and is now scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
The game, which features two of last season's three conference regular season co-champions, will be the first of seven men's basketball contests that CBS Sports Network will air this season after reaching a multi-year deal with the MAC through 2018-19 through a sublicense agreement with ESPN in June.
This will be the sixth consecutive televised matchup between the Golden Flashes and Bulls, and second on the national stage. Last season's game at UB's Alumni Arena on January 30 was broadcast on ESPNU.
Coming off the sixth MAC regular season title in school history, Kent State was picked to finish second in the MAC East in the preseason. The Flashes will take a 7-2 record into next week's 2015 Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic and a semifinal matchup against No. 18 SMU (9-0). Three players - Jimmy Hall, Chris Ortiz and Kellon Thomas - have already earned MAC East Player of the Week honors during the first five weeks of the season.
Kent State's next home game at the M.A.C. Center will be against Oberlin College on Saturday, January 2. Fans can purchase tickets for home games over the phone by calling 330-672-2244, in person by coming to the M.A.C. Center ticket office Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., or online by going to the Tickets page on KentStateSports.com.
