Flip for the Cure: Gymnastics Takes Down Colonials Sunday

Kent, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics team defeated George Washington 195.700-193.725 in the Flip for Cure meet Sunday, March 1st in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center.
Kent State (5-6, 1-3 MAC) finished with team scores of 49.025 (vault), 48.675 (bars), 48.775 (beam), and 49.225 (floor) to come up with their 195.700 final score.
The Flashes dominated on the beam, floor exercise, and bars as they swept the top three places on each event.
Winning events on the night were Rachel Stypinski on beam and floor, and Ali Marrero on bars.
Stypinski led the Flashes with a score of 9.925 on the floor exercise and tied her person-record of 9.900 on the beam, where Skyelee Lamano took second on floor with a person-record of 9.900. Jordan Hardison followed for third on floor with a final score of 9.875.
Nicole Radon and Jordan Hardison finished behind Stypinski on beam with second and a tie for third, respectively, with 9.775 and 9.750.
Marrero took home first on bars with a 9.825 followed by Brooke Timko, second place (9.750) and Michaela Romito in third, 9.725.
On vault, Chelsea Drooger placed second (9.850) and Timko placed third (9.825).
The Colonials (13-3-1) had team scores of 48.775 (vault), 48.200 (bars), 47.900 (beam) and 48.850 (floor) for their 193.725 finish. Cami Drouin-Allaire took home vault honors with a 9.875, as she won the All-Around with a final 39.100.
The Golden Flashes will host the Ball State Cardinals Sunday, March 8th at 2pm in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center, as they honor the senior gymnasts.
