CLEVELAND, Ohio- Kent State soccer's Jenna Hellstrom and Katie Kingsbury have been named Mid-American Conference Players of the Week as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.
                  Â
Hellstrom garners offensive player of the week honors for the third time this year following another recording breaking performance. Hellstrom tallied two goals and two assists in Kent State's 4-0 victory over Akron on Thursday. The two goals and assists bumped Hellstrom into first all-time in Kent State history in goals (32) and multiple-assist games (4). Hellstrom added her 33rd career goal on Sunday against Buffalo, a goal that prove to be the difference maker in the 1-0 win for the Golden Flashes.
Kingsbury garners defensive player of the week honors after she earned her first career win and shutout on Sunday against Buffalo, aiding the Golden Flashes to their 10th consecutive victory. Kingsbury was strong between the pipes in her first start of the season, stopping all seven of Buffalo's shots on goal, giving way to the 1-0 win. Kingsbury also played the second half against Akron Thursday night, coming up with two saves to preserve the 4-0 shutout victory over the Zips.Â
The Golden Flashes put their 10 match win streak on the line Friday at 6 p.m., as they travel to Central Michigan to take on the 12-1-1 (4-1-1 MAC) Chippewas. Â
