CLEVELAND – Kent State women's golf freshman Pimnipa Panthong has been named Co-Golfer of the Week by the Mid-American Conference.
Panthong picked up her second honor of the year based off her record breaking performance at the Jim West Invitational. She had the best round of any golfer in program history in round three Monday to finish arguably the best tournament performance in school history. Panthong finished second overall by one stroke at 12-under par 204, beating her previous 54-hole tournament record by a stroke.
Her Monday score of nine-under par 63 passed the old program-best mark by two strokes. Panthong had 10 birdies in round three, six on the back nine. Her score anchored the team's performance in tying the program's all-time best 54-hole tournament record at 847. The mark has been unmatched since April of 2006.
Kent State, the 10th ranked team in the nation, will return to Texas for their next tournament, the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin Oct. 17-18.
