Cross Country Closes Out MAC Championships

KENT, Ohio- Kent State's men's and women's cross country programs ran in and hosted the 2016 Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Kent State University Golf Course. The men's team took ninth and the women's team took 12th.
The men's team posted a total time of 2:16:18 for their eighth place finish, while the women's team posted a total time of 1:56:16 for their 12th place finish.
For the second year in a row, Eastern Michigan swept the men's and women's team titles. For the men's program, it's their seventh straight MAC Championship. Eastern's men's team captured the top-five spots individually and Nicholas Raymond was the individual MAC Champion with a time of 25:10.0. On the women's side, Eastern's Jordan McDermitt was the individual champion with a time of 20:34.1.
Kent State's top finisher in the men's race was freshman Clark Bookman who crossed the finish line in 26:47.2 for a 43rd place finish. In 51st behind Bookman was Nick Schank who finished with a time of 27:14.6.
On the women's side, freshman Swann Phelippeau took 52nd overall with a time of 22:58.3 to lead the Golden Flashes. Olivia Davis head the second-best time for the women's team at 22:11.1, good enough for 63rd overall.
Both programs will now prepare for the Great Lakes Regional hosted by Wisconsin on Fridat, Nov. 11.
