Flashes Host Another MAC Foe Sunday Afternoon

Field hockey (7-5, 3-0) hosts another Mid-American Conference opponent this Sunday as Missouri State (1-8, 0-2) visits for a noon match.

Player of the Week Sweep
• Kent State swept the MAC's Player of the Week awards this past Tuesday after moving to 3-0 in conference play last weekend
• Alison Harmatz earned offensive honors as she tallied three goals in two games and leads the Flashes in points, goals and shots through 12 games this season
• Silvia Figa Malgosa was lauded for her defense as she has been a main contributor to Kent State's formidable defense that allowed just one corner and two shots in Sunday's game against Central Michigan
• Figa Malgosa also contributed with a goal at Ohio State on Friday and two assists on Sunday
Cancer Research Fundraiser Ongoing
• The field hockey program is raising money for the V Foundation for Cancer Research this season
• Donations can be made online at commerce.cashnet.com/FHOC through Saturday, November 5
• Cash contributions will also be accepted at the team's remaining home games
• The Golden Flashes have special stickers on their sticks with the initials H.H. in honor of Harmatz's father, Howard, who passed away from a brain tumor this summer
MAC Tournament Nearing
• The 2016 MAC Tournament is less than a month away, as teams are closing in on earning berths with conference play heating up
• The event will be hosted at Kent State's Murphy-Mellis Field
• Semifinals will be held on Friday, November 4 with the championship match set for Saturday, November 5
• Miami joins Kent State at 3-0 in conference play entering Sunday while Ohio is also undefeated at 2-0
• The Flashes will travel to face the RedHawks next Friday in a highly anticipated matchup
• The two teams battled into double overtime in the championship game of last season's MAC Tournament with Kent State earning the victory
