
Eiben Tabbed as Academic All-American

Kent State soccer's Jaime Eiben has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Eiben, a junior, garners All-America honors having been named First Team Academic All-District by CoSIDA in October. Â Eiben was also named Academic All-MAC last week for the second year in a row and was named a MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete last season.Â
An actuarial mathematics major, Eiben owns a near-perfect 3.99 GPA and is now the fourth student-athlete in program history to receive Academic All-America honors.
On the pitch this season, Eiben started all 20 games in defense for Kent State, aiding the Golden Flashes to nine shutouts in route to their best season in program history. The Golden Flashes claimed their first ever MAC Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance, winning a program record 15 matches.
Eiben scored one goal and tallied three assists this season, including an assist in Kent State's MAC Tournament semifinal win over Central Michigan.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, the College Sports Information Directors of America have bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
